The Office of Bilingual Education and World Languages (OBEWL) of the ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵapp (NYSED) presents this next webinar in its 2024 Professional Learning Series:Ìý Interpretive Communication for Classical Languages.Ìý This webinar is offered free of charge for classical language educators and administrators working and studying in ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵapp State educational institutions.

Webinar description: ÌýWhat does Interpretive Communication for Classical Languages look like in action? This session takes a deep dive into planning for and facilitating Interpretive Communication using authentic resources. Learn about before, during, and after task designs to enable learners to understand, interpret, and analyze authentic resources. You will see examples of the Interpretive mode applied to various text types at Checkpoints A, B, and C. You will come away with new insights into Standard 1 and multiple strategies for scaffolding your learners' Interpretive Communication.

ÌýOnce the registrant's email address has been verified as being from a ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵapp State school, college, or university, an email confirming their registration will be sent.Ìý Twenty-four hours prior to the event, all registered individuals will receive login instructions with the link to join the webinar.Ìý Only pre-registered attendees will be eligible for a certificate documenting attendance and/or CTLE hours.Ìý

Webinar presenter:ÌýÌýDavid Pellegrino has taught middle and high school level Latin and Spanish for 33 years and recently retired from Pittsford Mendon High School. While teaching full-time, he was the department leader of the World Language Department at Pittsford Mendon High School for over 20 years. Over the course of his career, he has presented many pedagogical workshops and continues to do so both at the local and national levels. He is currently the treasurer of the Classical Association of the Empire State.
